About Me

I am Christopher B. Adkins, aspiring Computer Programmer and Software Developer. Those are not professional titles granted, just what I love to do and am striving to learn, expand, practice, and use.

I currently reside in Germany, a long way from roots in the Midwestern USA.  I live with my wife (Anya), daughter (Lillian), and dog (Loki). I have recently finish a 4 year stint in the US Army and am now about to officially start my life as a civilian.  I have had an interest in the software field for a good 10 years now, but have had the recurring problem of not know which language to learn. Every software professional has their own ideas about which language is most important to learn, and non of them are wrong. About 4 months ago I decided on Java (merely cause that is the language I had the most resources for).  The first couple of programs on this site (Blackjack and Prediction) are the fruits of that labor.

On September 1st I will start an Ausbildung (apprenticeship) to learn the trade of Fachinformatiker - Anwendungsentwicklung (Application Developer, or Software Developer -- names are not easily translated between languages). This site will go through numerous unknown changes in the coming months including several long stretches without update.  The primary language used to make the programs will quite possibly change as well causing a step back in the complexity of the programs.  This is a necessary step I am afraid.

For a more in-depth look at workings of my mind check out my blog, Musings of an Adkins.  You can also send me an e-mail asking to join the mail-list to receive updates directly to your inbox.
